چکیده

This work aimed to evaluate the physiological behavior and growth of jurema-preta seedlings under salinity conditions. The experiment was conducted at Forestry Nursery Academic Unit Engineering/UFCG, with plants kept in 'Leonard' pots. treatments were distributed a completely randomized design, five levels electrical conductivity (EC) nutrient solution (0.5; 2.0; 3.5; 5.0 6.5 dS m-1) four repetitions. salinization achieved by adding mixture NaCl, CaCl2.2H2O MgCl2.6H2O salts. There progressive decrease plant height, stem diameter, relative rate, water content, stomatal conductance, transpiration photosynthesis rate dry mass production as EC increased. Transpiration less sensitive than conductance seedling photosynthesis. Among parameters, roots most affected salinity.

Antimicrobial activity of Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir. from Northeast Brazil against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus

Mimosa tenuiflora is a native plant of Northeast Brazil where it is popularly known as “jurema-preta” and it is widely used in folk medicine. In this work the anti-Staphylococcus aureus activity of ethanol extract of M tenuiflora was evaluated by determination of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of clinical isolates by the agar dilution method, and by time-kill assay using a reference str...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir from Brazilian semi-arid

Many plant species from Brazilian semi-arid present arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in their rhizosphere. These microorganisms play a key role in the establishment, growth, survival of plants and protection against drought, pathogenic fungi and nematodes. This study presents a quantitative analysis of the AMF species associated with Mimosa tenuiflora, an important native plant of the Caating...

Antinoceptive and Anti-inflammatory Activities of the Ethanolic Extract, Fractions and Flavones Isolated from Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir (Leguminosae).

The bark of Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poiret (Leguminosae family), popularly known as "jurema preta" in Brazil, is used by the population of Contendas of Sincorá (Bahia State, Brazil) for the treatment of coughs and wound healing. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of the bark ethanol extract (EEMT) and solvent soluble fractions (he...

Ethylene reduces gas exchange and growth of lettuce plants under hypobaric and normal atmospheric conditions.

Elevated levels of ethylene occur in controlled environment agriculture and in spaceflight environments, leading to adverse plant growth and sterility. The objectives of this research were to characterize the influence of ethylene on carbon dioxide (CO(2)) assimilation (C(A)), dark period respiration (DPR) and growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. cv. Buttercrunch) under ambient and low total pr...

Characterization of indigenous rhizobia from caatinga

The aim of this study was to characterize rhizobial isolates from Cratylia mollis Mart. ex Benth, Calliandra depauperata Benth. and Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir. by means of rhizobial colonies morphology and restriction analysis of the 16S ribosomal gene (16S rDNA-ARDRA). Nodules were collected in the field and from plants cultivated in a greenhouse experiment using Caatinga soil samples. Si...
